    What’s on at The Library?

    librarywhatsonPicApril2013Another edition of the quarterly publication What’s On at the Library is now available from Waltham Forest Library Service.

    You can find information about Cityread London 2013, reading groups in LBWF libraries, family arts and craft activities and Rhythm, Rap and Rhyme events.

    A great range of stimulating and exciting things to explore within the context of your local library.

    Look out for the featured history events – stories of migration, history of your house and Just Like Morris – great activities reminding us of our past and how our experiences now will affect all our futures.

    Fantastic Fireworks 2012

    lbwfFireworksPic2The Borough are holding a celebratory fireworks event this year on November 5th. You can download an LBWF event poster with the details here.

    Location: Chestnuts Field, Waltham Forest Town Hall Complex, Forest Road, Walthamstow, E17 4JF
    Admission: Free Event

    2012 has been an amazing year, and while we know it’s not over yet we want to help you round off the Olympic Year and our Big 6 celebrations with a BANG!

    This year admission to the event is free for you and your family. And as well as a stunning fireworks display there’ll be music, entertainment, fairground rides and a wide range of refreshments to snack on, so come along and join the party!

    SummerDaze 2012 is here…

    summerDaze2012pic-mA new edition of Summer Daze for 2012 is now available online from the Borough. Packed full of holiday activities, this Olympic Special Edition also features over 50 schools open for fun in the summer of 2012.

    You can read about how children can take part in the Going for Gold Challenge, as part of the Schools Open for Summer programme in Waltham Forest.

    As well as a directory of activities by age group, there is also a great section on gettting around during The Olympics.

    Autumn Daze 2011

    This great Waltham Forest publication offers parents and carers information about activities available on the borough for the forthcoming half-term break.

    There are details of things to do for children under five, for children between five and ten years, as well as for young people aged eleven to nineteen years of age.

    You can also find activities for the whole family – from Brooks Farm activity sessions to spectacular firework display.

    Half Term May Daze now available

    If you are looking for activities during the coming half term break, then the Waltham Forest May Daze is a great resource.

    It has activities available during the week for children and young people of all ages, from the under 5′s to the 11-19 age group.

    Whether your children are passionate about football and fitness, badminton and bouncy castles or just a classic story time – you’ll find it in May Daze.

    National Family Week 30th May – 5th June 2011

    nationalFamilyWeekButtonNational Family Week is a series of events and activities designed to bring families together, provide inspirational family fun and let you have access to some family focused special offers too.

    The mixture of live events and venues participating are supported by politicians, celebrities and a large array of companies and service providers from all sectors. You can see their support here.

    There is sure to be an event during the week near you and you can use the National Family Week web site to check out your area.

    You can also register your own event or activity on the site too.

    Changes of design and content

    pensPic33You may have noticed the recent changes to the design and content of our Centre website…and the school main site too.

    We are working through a programme of new content for our site. We would be delighted to hear from you if you have any ideas for content or features for our site.

    If you have photographs of Centre activities or other interesting events around our school site just drop them into the Centre reception. (Preferably on a memory stick or CD). We are always happy to create galleries for your review – always with the appropriate permissions of course.

    If you have any ideas for features you can let us know by using the reply boxes on the blog posts. Just click the title to this entry and look at the bottom of the page.

    We never publish your details and all submissions are moderated before publication- we care a lot about your privacy.

    That said, we’d love to hear your ideas…

    Our baskets of love…

    basketsPicWe help many parents, carers and children who are in need.

    You can help us to help our community members who need a little extra support – by bringing into our Centre any donations you may have of tinned goods or packets of processed food items.

    We will put them to good use!

    Making up our Baskets of Love, to help others in our community can be a real aid at times of crisis for families, or just when a friendly face and supporting place to go is just what’s needed.

    Help us to help others…thank you for your support.

    Photo shoots?

    TtripodPiche NSPCC are looking for young children and families for a promotional photo opportunity.

    Preferably with babies under 12 weeks, the charity is looking for parents to volunteer, but the charity will pay your expenses and you get to keep a copy of the finished photographs.
